Brazilian IDM, glitch, trip-hop, as you called it, still be true, electro master Amon Tobin make four song EP', which sounds like... Amon Tobin. His tendency to release EP's or mini albums, is there again, and I admit, he made a good mini albums.
Schizophrenic with noise, synthesizers blips and subversive, oppressive atmosphere, in which even Boards Of Canada would be envy and asked for in the title "Surge". Two-minute "sick" IDM aesthetics with light 8bit electronics, and sounds like a house full of ghosts on tranquillizers.
The second "Surge" (Two Fingers Remix) keeps schizophrenic nature, but this electro happens onto trip-hop basis, and "ghosts" seemed enliven and dancing eating ice cream, ha-ha. Two Fingers are Amon Tobin and Joe "Doubleclick" Chapman.
Strange sounding, but it is still Amon Tobin - the king of sophisticated darkness in electro music. In this composition you can still feel - decayed dub beats and retro 8bit arcade sound for background.

"Surge" (Emika Version) begins with "fragile" female vocal - breathing, singing - and kinematic theme of the song should not be surprises you.
The last composition "Surge" (16 Bit Remix) gives me the kinematic, breaking dubstep, which is.. heavy, at least enough, to blow your speakers at home, if you "buffed the volume". Here have everything, that's going to catch and "shoot you" - master glitch bass, heavy hip-hop, and atmospheric synth passages, trademark Amon Tobin, which however to be strange, always fit into the overall sound image, and as though always been there. Finally you go into downtempo layer, where the beat "cuddle you" and it says: "You want more?". And I want, because Amon Tobin knows how to get under the skin, or rather underneath the cranial box, and to stirs the blood in the brain for trip.

There are artists who you have a feeling, that whatever they do they never go wrong, no matter how experimental it is their product. Well, Amon Tobin is exactly of these talented players, and offers four compositions which should not doubt. Sounds like a jet plane before takeoff, and the pilot is Amon Tobin, and will lead you on a journey into his kinematic world. Be with frank and open mind, to feel the details of this trip.
